Takara Asian Art was founded by Jeffrey Klotz and Phyllis Lieberman in 1999. Jeffrey started avidly collecting netsuke in 1987 — and he is still a collector at heart. He enjoys sharing his experience, knowledge and passion for the art form with fellow enthusiasts. Jeffrey serves as chairman of the New York chapter of the International Netsuke Society.
Both Jeffrey and Phyllis have presented many lectures about netsuke. Phyllis has presented many lectures at meetings of the New York chapter of the International Netsuke Society and has presented workshops at several International Netsuke Society conventions. Jeffrey has presented many lectures at meetings of the New York chapter of the International Netsuke Society, has presented workshops at many International Netsuke Society conventions and has given presentatons at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City (2007), the Sarasota International Antiques and Fine Art Exposition (2008) and The Brush Gallery in Lowell, MA (2010). Jeffrey and Phyllis have also written articles for the INS Journal and Daruma magazine. Takara Asian Art is a member of the Netsuke Dealers Association.
