

A netsuke of a chili pepper that is being eaten by a giant garden slug. The stem of the pepper is removable, revealing the seeds within the pepper. The matching tomobako (box)is also a chili pepper. (Netsuke) Pepper is manzanita root wood and the stem is cow horn. Both are painted with oil paints. The slug is unpainted cow horn. (Tomobako) Pepper is maple wood and the stem (lid) is walnut wood with water buffalo horn closures. Both are painted with oil paints.
