"Salamander on Taro Leaf"
A netsuke of a salamander crawling over a folded leaf onto which she has just laid her eggs. (Netsuke) Salamander is bighorn sheep horn with water buffalo with red lacquer, leaf is cow horn and eggs are amber. Tomobako (box) is hard maple with oil paints and brass inner lip.
